Intermediate Yoga

Led by Julie Potter

This class is suited to those who have been practising for at least 6. My intention for this class is to move our practise forward, explore different avenues and approaches to the traditional postures. We will be aiming to be going deeper into ‘awareness’ and ‘noticing’.

The yoga I teach is an evolution of over 20 years of practice and study, perhaps moving away from ‘external’ evaluation of the postures and moving towards an ‘internal’ sense of the postures, moving away from the more used traditional approach of systemised yoga to a more experiential approach. Whilst looking at traditional Hatha Yoga postures and pranayamas, I will be encouraging fun and freedom within the traditional structure, whilst taking into our awareness fundamental anatomical and functional aspects required by our bodies for maximum wellbeing benefits.

Please bring a blanket, a yoga / Pilates mat, and wear loose comfortable clothing.

All of Us Strangers

Dir: Andrew Haigh 2023 | 105 mins

Nominated for six BAFTAs including Best Direction, Best British Film and Best Adapted Screenplay.

One night in his near-empty tower block in contemporary London, Adam (Andrew Scott) has a chance encounter with a mysterious neighbour Harry (Paul Mescal), which punctures the rhythm of his everyday life.

As a relationship develops between them, Adam is preoccupied with memories of the past and finds himself drawn back to the suburban town where he grew up, and the childhood home where his parents (Claire Foy and Jamie Bell), appear to be living, just as they were on the day they died, 30 years before.

Kirtan

Led by Janette Moy

Kirtan is the practice of gathering together to chant universal mantras. It is the Yoga of Sound, the repetition of the mantras allows us to experience a meditative state. The mantras help relax the mind and re-energise the body/mind as well as release stress/ worries. It is uplifting and healing.

Anyone can join in, you do not have to be able to sing to chant, each of us has a unique primal sound to express and all our voices blend together into one sound. You can sit on the floor or a chair if you need support, you can also stand, move or lay down if you want.

Please bring a cushion or blanket rolled up to sit on. You might like to bring a shawl or blanket around you (not essential, just cosy). If you require a chair please arrive early to give time to organise this. Bring water to drink.

I look forward to sharing these medicinal mantras with you.

Fred's House

Summery 70s West Coast inspired folk/rock.

Fred’s House are delighted to be returning to one of their all-time favourite venues, Norden Farm!

Vix, Prue, Lachlan, Gafyn and Paul are a group of friends based in sunny Cambridge who make up the award-winning band. They have been together in some form or another for 13 years; survived relationship breakdowns within the group, emigration, line-up changes and a Global Pandemic, but they’re still here to tell the tale. Playing live is what the band thrive on and they are well known for their very lively and entertaining shows but that they also have those songs that bring a tear to the eye.

'Fred's House is a very popular band who have built up a significant following, and they were quickly bringing the house down' Maverick Magazine

They’ve performed more gigs than they care to remember, including headline tours of the UK and toured China as part of the Nanjing International Music Festival, as well as playing some big UK festival stages such as Cambridge Folk Festival, Acoustic Festival of Britain and Bestival. Their last release, Walls and Ceilings (EP) gained much praise, including from BBC Radio 2’s Baylon Leonard who said, 'they have a brand-new sound and one that I really love'.

Having just won the Break Out Award at the NMG Awards 2023, Fred’s House are working towards their 4th album with producer Jake Day of North Acre Recording Studio which will be out late 2024. It is quite a shift towards radio-friendly commercial pop in terms of style, whilst still showcasing their hooky song-writing and staple sound of summery folk-rock guitars, West Coast 4-part harmonies, violin and a driving rhythm section.

Align and Flow Yoga

Led by Deborah Le Vene-Page.

Align and Flow Yoga is influenced by the biomechanics and heart orientated philosophy of the Anusara Hatha style of yoga. With a specific alignment focus within the flow of postures the practice will tone and strengthen the body, improve posture and create more freedom in the body and mind resulting in a calm and relaxed state of being.

Each week there will be a different theme weaving its’ way through the session, but a typical class starts with breathing techniques to centre and ground, poses to warm up and then progresses to a fun and challenging mix of vinyasa and alignment yoga.

This class is designed to cultivate focus, stamina, strength, and flexibility. Leaving time at the end for a well-deserved relaxation.

Acoustic Guitar - Absolute Beginners

Led by Jim Maving

Always wanted to learn guitar but never got around to it? Want to trade your air guitar skills for real guitar skills? It is never too late to learn. Learn guitar right from the very beginning. This is a foundation course for those with little to no experience of playing guitar. You will learn how to hold a guitar and to make the right noises out of it. The aim of these lessons is to get you playing your first song within 4 weeks of lessons, as no-one takes up guitar to strum random chords, it’s all about the songs.

If you are returning to guitar having not played for some time and can barely remember chords this is a great way of getting back into the swing of things.

If you've never played guitar you need to book on the Absolute Beginners course!

These classes are split by skills level;

Beginners/Gentle Yoga

Led by Julie Potter

This class is particularly suited to beginners, those returning to yoga having had a break, those with specific injuries or conditions or even those that consider themselves to be of a ‘certain age’ that might need a less challenging approach. We will cover general breathing practises, the basic and gentler postures, together with general information and possible discussion around movement and the potential difficulties we might come up against.

The aim will be to relax and enjoy.

The yoga I teach is an evolution of nearly 30 years of practice and study, with a broad experience of many styles and teachers. In recent years I have been moving away from ‘external’ evaluation of the postures and moving towards an ‘internal’ sense of the postures, moving away from the more used traditional approach of systemised yoga to a more experiential and ‘felt’ approach, influenced by teachers who have been inspired by the teachings of Vanda Scaravelli.

Baby Signing

Led by Funky Monkeys

Have you ever wondered what your baby is thinking or feeling? Would it help if they could communicate those thoughts and feelings to you?

Sign & Rhyme teaches parents/carers and their little ones, simple sign language that enables them to communicate before speech takes over. Just like waving and clapping, your baby can learn to tell you when they’re hungry, in pain or just that they’ve seen a dog! This is empowering to them and hugely rewarding for you! In most cases babies who sign learn to talk sooner than their non-signing peers.

Signs are used in class, like actions, to accompany songs and nursery rhymes and with an array of props, puppets, instruments and the use of disco lights, bubbles and parachutes to enhance the sensory experience and make learning more fun.

There's also:
* Free on-site parking

Ian Siegal

In more than a quarter century of touring multi-award winner Ian Siegal’s mission statement has barely changed: songs that are real, shows that resonate, vocals served raw. Today he is considered by many to be the most compelling British blues artiste since the great names of the sixties.

Classic Rock tags Siegal 'a national treasure' America’s blues bible says 'vast talent' and MOJO magazine ranks him 'the cleverest writer and most magnetic blues performer in the UK'. He has taken his music to some 50 countries and presided over a trophy haul that includes two UK Blues Awards, 10 British Blues Awards, four European Blues Awards, two Mojo Blues Albums Of The Year not to mention three US Blues Music Awards nominations - an unprecedented nod for a non-American. And that’s just what he has clocked up in the past ten years.

Siegal is known as a bluesman, but it’s just one shade in the palette of an artist who slips between continents, eras and expectations. They say you can’t sing the blues until you’ve lived the life, and when Ian Siegal steps up to the mic, you can hear the slings and arrows. His forte is playing to an audience. He takes command of the stage in a way very few artists alive today can match. Sweat, passion, humour, incendiary slide guitar and a soul-infused voice big enough to fell trees!

Each year his influence spreads further and recently to Brazil; but what sticks most in Ian’s mind is his guest appearance at London’s Jazz Café with 92-year old Pinetop Perkins and other remaining members of Muddy Waters’ band. Then later at a festival in Norway, in a role reversal and totally unexpected, these legends of post-war Blues spontaneously joined Ian on stage for what turned into a memorable hour-long set.

American Fiction

Dir: Cord Jefferson 2023 | 117 mins

Nominated for five Academy Awards including Best Actor (Jeffrey Wright), Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay.

Jeffrey Wright gives a terrific performance in this smart, incisive satire of the literary world based on Percival Everett’s acclaimed novel Erasure.

Thelonius Ellison, or ‘Monk’ (Wright) is a frustrated novelist who's fed up with a literary establishment that profits from Black stories built on tired and offensive tropes.

Angry and disillusioned, forced back home to cohabit with his troubled family, he uses a pseudonym to write and publish a similarly exploitative book of his own that propels him to fame and the heart of the hypocrisy he claims to disdain.

The Benn Clatworthy Quartet

Presented by Norden Farm Jazz Club.

Benn Clatworthy (sax, flute)
Alex Hutton (piano)
Simon Thorpe (bass)
Darren Beckett (drums)

Back by popular demand!

Benn was active in the London Music Scene in the 1970’s and was a protégé of Ronnie Scott. He moved to L.A. California in 1980 where he is now based. He was recommended for Horace Silver’s band and recordings followed. Having skills as a multi-instrumentalist (tenor, alto, baritone sax, flute, clarinet, bass clarinet) he has carved a career in the L.A music scene. He has worked with a huge array of class A musicians from the LA Philharmonic Orchestra to Cab Calloway. However, his main passion is playing Tenor Sax in a quartet setting – and his approach is unique. Playing from the songbook of Blue Note and more contemporary jazz, his tone is extraordinarily beautiful, and his melodic ideas come from the heart. As someone said recently 'It’s as though he’s talking to us and telling us a story through the saxophone!’

What to watch out for – The ballads will be enchanting, the up-tempo songs will be invigorating.

Sound Baths are deeply relaxing, anyone can join in. Lay down, cosy and Janette will share beautiful sounds of Gong, Tibetan bowls, Irish Drum ( Bodhran ), Rainstick, Sansula, Kochi chimes and more. Taking you on a journey into the heart of Sacred Sound.

As you relax and bathe in the healing vibrations, your body resonates within these pure tones and you begin to feel retuned and in harmony. Healing can happen at cellular level, our bodies, mind and emotions draw from the sounds the vibration that is needed to bring us into inner balance.

You will need to bring a yoga mat or blanket to lie on. A small cushion for under head comfort. A blanket to cover up. Anything else you want to bring to make a cosy nest. Eye mask if you use one.

Screen Printing workshop inspired by the Japanese art technique Notan

Led by Berkshire Printmakers

Notan is a Japanese art term that literally means "light, dark harmony". Artists use "notan" to explore the play and placement of light and dark elements as they are positioned next to each other in creative compositions.

This fun, creative workshop explores silkscreen printing using Notan compositional techniques. We will start off with simple paper cut stencils combined with plain screens and monochrome inks to explore light and dark composition elements. In the second half of the workshop we will progress to combining these elements with patterned screens and mid-tones to create harmonious and well balanced prints worthy in a frame.

This workshop is suitable for beginners and those with some screen printing, all paper, water based inks and our huge library of plain and patterned screens are provided

National Theatre Live: The Motive and the Cue

180 mins

A new play by Jack Thorne, directed by Sam Mendes.

Sam Mendes (The Lehman Trilogy) directs Mark Gatiss as John Gielgud and Johnny Flynn as Richard Burton in this fierce and funny new play.

1964: Richard Burton, newly married to Elizabeth Taylor, is to play the title role in an experimental new Broadway production of Hamlet under John Gielgud’s exacting direction. But as rehearsals progress, two ages of theatre collide and the collaboration between actor and director soon threatens to unravel.

Written by Jack Thorne (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child) and designed by Es Devlin (The Crucible), the Evening Standard award-winning best new play was filmed live during a sold-out run at the National Theatre.

Ray Bradshaw - Doppelginger

Multi award winning comedian Ray Bradshaw is forever being told you look just like my mate wherever he goes.

It’s been happening for years and he’s worried about it. Either someone is cloning generic bald men or, there’s a ginger bearded bald man out there who’s doing a bad job of stalking Ray. In his brand-new show Doppelginger, Ray is going to use the latest in genetic research (the internet) to try and put an end to this once and for all.  He’s on a quest to find the person who looks most like him.

Doppelginger is a funny heartwarming comedy show about a silly search for a man with an orange beard who’s follicly challenged.  If you have a bald, ginger bearded friend in their 30s (true at time of writing), then bring them along.  You never know – they could be The One.

Ray’s last show Deaf Com One was a huge success and sold out theatres across the world. The show was all about growing up with deaf parents and as a result every show of Doppelginger will have a BSL interpreter. Ray has previously supported John Bishop on his UK arena tour after John described him as one of the best comedians in the country.

'Bradshaw is raucously funny… captivating, funny and sharply executed' ★★★★★ BroadwayBaby.com

Wicked Little Letters

Dir: Thea Sharrock 2023 | 100 mins

A 1920s English seaside town bears witness to a dark and absurd scandal in this riotous mystery comedy.

Based on a stranger than fiction true story, the film follows two neighbours: deeply conservative local Edith Swan (Olivia Colman) and rowdy Irish migrant Rose Gooding (Jessie Buckley).

When Edith and fellow residents begin to receive wicked letters full of unintentionally hilarious profanities, foulmouthed Rose is charged with the crime. The anonymous letters prompt a national uproar, and a trial ensues. However, as the town's women - led by Police Officer Gladys Moss (Anjana Vasan) - begin to investigate the crime themselves, they suspect that something is amiss, and Rose may not be the culprit after all.

Starring Olivia Colman, Jessie Buckley, Timothy Spall, Malachi Kirby, Eileen Atkins, Anjana Vasan.

National Theatre Live: Dear England

Run time tbc

A new play by James Graham, directed by Rupert Goold.

Joseph Fiennes (The Handmaid’s Tale) plays Gareth Southgate in James Graham’s (Sherwood) gripping examination of nation and game.

The country that gave the world football has since delivered a painful pattern of loss. Why can’t England’s men win at their own game?

With the worst track record for penalties in the world, Gareth Southgate knows he needs to open his mind and face up to the years of hurt, to take team and country back to the promised land.

Filmed live on stage at the National Theatre, Rupert Goold (Judy) directs this spectacular
new play.

Please note: This production contains flashing lights, loud noises and some offensive language.

Tango Calor

A collective of wonderful musicians who share a love for Argentine tango.

Tango Calor was set up by bandoneon player Mirek Salmon (BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Welsh National Opera, RSC) in 2016.

For this concert Mirek will be joined by guitar virtuoso Daryl Kellie described by D’Addario Strings as ‘Truly stunning’ and sensational vocalist Indira Roman.

Together they will take you on a journey from the classic tango of 1930s Buenos Aires to the beloved music of Astor Piazzolla and may even include some surprise versions of more contemporary hits. Expect romance, passion and fireworks.

'A great punching combo that combines tradition with Nuevo flavours. One of the best tango trios you will hear in the UK without a doubt' Eduardo Bozzo, Tango Alchemy

'As professional teachers and hosts, if you want dancers to be out of their seats and enjoy great music, Tango Calor really does that' Joanna & James Whitehead, Viva la dance
