Helios

Presented by Wright & Grainger.

A lad lives half way up a historic hill. A teenager is on a road trip to the city in a stolen car. A boy is driving a chariot, pulling the sun across the sky.

This is a story about the son of the god of the sun.

Helios transplants the Ancient Greek tale into a modern-day myth wound round the winding roads of rural England and into the everyday living of a towering city. It’s a story about life, the invisible monuments we build to it and the little things that leave big marks.

From ‘Masters of Storytelling’ (FOURTHWALL) Wright&Grainger, HELIOS is the award-winning follow up to the internationally-acclaimed ORPHEUS, EURYDICE, and THE GODS THE GODS THE GODS. Join them in a little room with a tape player - and delicate tale to tell.

Rubbish Shakespeare: Romeo and Juliet

Presented by The Rubbish Shakespeare Company.

Enemies. Balconies. Kissing... sausage rolls!?

Three idiots perform Shakespeare’s famous tragedy, using only a box of tatty wigs, a worn floral dress, and a burst airbed they found by the bins.

Described as ‘like Horrible Histories but funnier’ Primary Times, the beloved Rubbish Shakespeare Company returns with an anarchic and joyous family friendly treat.

Featuring clowning, slapstick and knowingly mischievous storytelling, this ‘side-splittingly funny’ The List production is the perfect introduction to Shakespeare - or even theatre itself!

In the Dead of the Night

Presented by Faceplant Theatre.

Will Lily conquer her fears? Will she conquer her fright? Will she conquer the ghouls in the dead of the night?

In the Dead of the Night brings to life a little girl's imagination as she conjures fantastical monsters whilst hearing strange sounds in the middle of the night. Once she decides that she must overcome her fears, she sets out to tackle this mysterious noisy creature head on. She discovers it has been her scared young brother making the noises, whom she comforts as they fall asleep together. It's a tale about being brave and choosing to face your fears, and eventually about being a loving sibling, two messages that audiences can relate to.

Arthur McBain's witty, spooky, and heartfelt debut children's book has sold both internationally in Australia, Korea and Turkey, and in the UK as one of Waterstones core children's book range. Faceplant Theatre are incredibly excited to be adapting McBain's story for its first ever outing as a theatrical production.

Global Majority

A New Play From Chris Fung.

An exciting opportunity to join us for a sharing of this new work at the developmental stage.

Brian undergoes the most rigorous job interview of his life to join a cabalistic elite, a family who have a direct hand in controlling world affairs.

Part House of Cards, part Black Mirror, part Oprah Winfrey. This imaginative thriller explores how humanity can be crowded out at the very highest stakes in political negotiation. What does one life matter in the balance of millions?

Fresh from the run of his celebrated writing debut, The Society for New Cuisine, emerging Asian and migrant writer Chris Fung continues to challenge societal norms, and the philosophical underpinnings of class and racial inequality in his highly anticipated second play Global Majority.

‘Clever, dark and fascinating… this play will leave you questioning where you have been’ ★★★★★Theatre and Arts Review

‘Chris Fung’s masterful debut marks him out as one to watch. Dark, sharp and delicious. There is now absolutely an appetite for whatever he serves up next’ The Scotsman

‘Ambitious. Very, very impressive. This play’s many invoked images, and its haunting ending, continue to linger. Highly recommended’ Fringe Review

Feel Me

Presented by The Paper Birds Theatre Company.

Who do you care about and why?

Feel Me is a new interactive theatre show from The Paper Birds, UK leaders in devised verbatim theatre. Feel Me asks, via your mobile phone, who and what you care about from the stories unfolding live on stage in front of you.

A stunning mixture of live performance, film, projection, dance and music, Feel Me will explore the different lenses through which we are told, and connect to stories in the modern digital world.

Worlds unfold from backpacks, and tents are constructed and dismantled again, each scene and location temporary, like a transient teenager in search of safety, acceptance and a new place to call home. An interrogation of empathy, Feel Me asks what makes us ‘feel’ for another person, as we journey through landscapes and across borders, through weather storms and paperwork, changing seasons, endless queues and interviews.
