What the Young Leaders say
‘I was slightly nervous for this week however all of the staff and volunteers were incredibly welcoming and supportive. Throughout the week we were exposed to multiple different activities and careers available not only in the theatre industry but also marketing. We were guided through many roles present at Norden farm for example, in the sound and lighting systems, helping out at the box office, photography, designing our own poster and I even had the chance to communicate using a radio! We also watched multiple plays and films so it was very exciting! At the end of the week we ran a workshop which we had a budget for and had been discussing and preparing for throughout the week, this was a fun experience and helped establish the skills and points of consideration needed when organising and planning an event, which is in my opinion, a vital life skill. During my time at Norden farm I made new friends and I also discovered new areas in Norden farm I had never been to. Moreover I had an insight of all the rooms backstage and working environment at Norden farm and therefore many other organisations, glimpsing all the different types of roles available. I would really recommend this week as it will not only increase your experience and insight into the working environment but it is also an opportunity to give back to the community through a free fun workshop you will be running with your friends at the end of the week! It was very enjoyable and I definitely hope to have the chance to do it again next time.
