Kite Making Workshops

Get involved at Kite Making Workshops this summer, then see your creation take to the sky!

The workshops are led by specialist kite makers Community Kite Project.

You can make a kite in around 20 – 30 minutes with a bit of adult support! So you can turn up at any time during the session. But do make sure you leave enough time to get here, get park and get into the session!

Join us at Boyn Grove Park (Punt Hill) for our Community Kite Festival on Sunday 1 September between 12pm - 4pm. It's free to attend!

Round off the summer holidays in style with an afternoon of fun for all the community! Bring your kite creations, pre-owned or shop bought kites and join our team to fly them on the hill.

Find out more and book tickets for our Kite Making Workshops this summer here.

You can also purchase a Kite Decorating Kit on the day (subject to availability). Everyone is welcome, with or without a kite!

As well as all the kite flying fun, the afternoon will include food from local vendors and a bar.

Don't forget to bring along your picnic blanket or camping chairs and get set for an unmissable afternoon of entertainment.

This year’s live performance headliner is Levantes Dance Theatre who present – High Tea (with a Twist). Dressed to impress as always, the Canapé Art twins perform dance and acrobatics above a tastefully laid tea table, and mingle with the crowd for selfies and a cuppa. Expect glittery cakes, outrageous costumes and theatrical high jinx in an explosion of bright colour and silliness!

Entertainment

This year's line up includes:

★ Kite decorating and flying (of course!)

★ High Tea (with a Twist) from Levantes Dance Theatre - expect glittery cakes, outrageous costumes and theatrical high jinx in an explosion of bright colour and silliness from this dance and acrobatic duo!

★ Mariachi las Adelitas - the only female Mariachi band in Europe will be regaling visitors around the festival

★ Euphoria will be performing high energy rock / indie covers

★ Plus storytelling from Simon Mole

Please note that Kite Decorating on the day is subject to capacity and availability. Visit our Kite Making Workshop page here for details of how you can get involved over the summer and make you kite in advance.

This year, you can also get involved in free Flower Making Workshops ahead of the Kite Festival - to help make giant decorations for the event. A fabulous opportunity for all ages to work with artist Aysha Khan to get creative and collaborate with the community.
